CHRISTIAN LIVING (Religious Education Unit – Sharing Session-Acts-12-0102)

WHAT IS CHRISTIAN LIVING?

The moment we are baptized, we need to discard our old man to put on the new man according to the image of God.  We have to live a life which conforms to the ways and teachings of God.

How does one define meaningful life as a Christian?

A.TO LIVE A GODLY LIFE

~Live for the glory of God.

Isa 43:7“Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

~Be a godly offspring.

Mal 2:15And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

~Fear God, and keep His commandments.

Eccl 12:13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

~Give thanks to God and the Father.

Eph 5:20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

~Be rooted and built up in Him, established in the faith.

Col 2:7Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

~To love our Lord is to walk before Him in truth with all our heart and soul.

1King 2:4That the LORD may continue his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

1King 15:5Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

Deut 6:5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

~Love your neighbour as yourself.

Mark 12:29-3129And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

~Walk before God in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart.

1King 3:6And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

Micah 6:8He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

B.TO SEEK ETERNAL LIFE

~Let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow God.

Matt 16:24-2624Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

~Do not lose confidence and faith in our Lord Jesus.

2Cor 4:16-1816For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

C.HAVE SPIRITUAL NURTURE

Spiritual nurture includes praying, studying the bible, worshiping, listening to sermons, attending church services and having good virtues.

~Exercise yourself unto godliness.

1Tim 4:8-98For bodily exercise profit little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 9This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

~Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

Phil 2:12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
