ZECHARIAH 6:1-8-Acts-13-0102
Zech. 6:1-81And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. 2In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; 3And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. 4Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? 5And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. 6The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. 7And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. 8Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

Q:These four chariots are the four spirits of the heavens. Please explain how they go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth? What do their colours represent? What does it mean by the statement “the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth”?

These four chariots had horses of four different colours, namely red horses, black horses, white horses and the grisled and bay horses. What do these four chariots signify? When Prophet Zechariah asked the angel what these four chariots were, the angel answered and said, “These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.” In the Chinese Bible, the angel answered that these four chariots were the four winds. In the English Bible, they are referred to as the four spirits of God.

Heb. 1:7And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

Therefore these spirits (or winds in the Chinese version) refer to the angels of God, and His ministers are a flame of fire. Just as the book of Zechariah tells us, these four chariots are spirits (winds in the Chinese version) of God who were sent forth from God. Thus the winds here refer to the spirits of God. What kind of spirits are these? These spirits are ministering spirits sent by God to fulfill their duties.

Heb. 1:14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Angels are ministering spirits who are sent forth. Therefore these four spirits are the angels of God sent by God to fulfill their duties. God Himself sent those ministering spirits who were angels.

The bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth. The mission that God gave to them was to walk throughout all directions of the earth.

What are these four spirits or chariots? Where did they come from? The answer is found in the angel’s reply. They came from standing before the Lord of all the earth. The angels sent by God will go to the ends of the earth. The book of Zechariah tells us that these four spirits are the angels of God sent to all the earth, but did not explain further the different colours of the horses.

The horses of different colours in the book of Revelation each requires detailed explanations. If the colours of the horses are to be explained as mentioned in Revelation, it will involve the various seals that were opened. As recorded in the book of Revelation, during the opening of the seals, there appeared the black, red, white and grey horses, with an extra colour--grey if compared to what is mentioned in the book of Zechariah. As mentioned in the book of Revelation, the appearance of a different horse entailed a different disaster. The appearance of the white horse signifies the appearance of God’s Truth. It is during the opening of these seals that these horses of different colours appeared, which signified different spiritual situations that we must face.

However, the four winds mentioned in the book of Zechariah actually refer to the four spirits sent from before the Lord God, who are God’s ministers and angels bearing missions from God. What does it mean by these four spirits or chariots going forth? It means that they all come from standing before the Lord of all the earth. These four winds or spirits are ministering spirits sent as God’s angels and ministers. They come from God and will go to the entire world to perform their duties.

All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Amen.
