NUMBERS 23:9

For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

Question:

Please explain the spiritual meaning of this verse.

The Israelites were the chosen people of God and the flock of His heritage. They solitarily lived in His grace and were distinguished from worldly people, as they did not consider themselves part of the worldly nations.

Mic. 7:14   Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Deu. 22:27-28   27For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. 28If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

God loved the Israelites. It was His will to deliver them from their cries of sufferings in the land of Egypt and lead them into the promised land of Canaan.

God helped the Israelites win many battles because He wanted them to obey His commandments. He had commanded them to cross the River of Jordan into the land of Canaan, drive out all the existing inhabitants, not to marry gentiles, not to follow their traditions and not to worship idols.

Num. 33:51-55   51Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; 52Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: 53And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. 54And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit. 55But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Deu. 7:1-6   1When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; 2And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: 3Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. 4For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. 5But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.6For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Today, the True Jesus Church is the true church of the last days. She is still standing firmly on the foundation that had been set since her establishment. This foundation is the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles. Hence, we believers must not proclaim worldly teachings, secular churches’ doctrines or participate in secular churches’ religious celebrations. Rather, she must observe the teachings in the Two Testaments of the Bible and should take heed of God’s warning not to follow worldly teachings.

All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Amen.
