GENESIS 3:22

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.

Question 1: What does "the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:" mean?

Among the fruits on the trees in the Garden of Eden, there are the fruits of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life.

Gen. 2:8-9   8And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The first commandment of God:

Gen. 2:15-17   15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God commanded Adam not to eat the fruits of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil but Adam failed to obey Him. This is why God said, "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:" However, this phrase does not have any particular spiritual meaning. Instead, what we should be concerned about is that Adam had broken the only commandment given by God during that time.

Question 2: What does "lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever:" mean?

Adam failed to obey God as he ate the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Consequently, Adam was forbidden from eating the fruits of the Tree of Life.

Rev. 2:7   He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that over cometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev. 22:14   Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Here it tells us that only those who overcome the world and the devil are worthy to eat of the fruits of the Tree of Life. Thus, it is through the grace of God that those who are born of the Truth and the Holy Spirit can receive the fruits of the Tree of Life.

May all glory be to the Lord Jesus Christ, Hallelujah! Amen.
